In 1940, a war-time air crash in Canberra took the lives of ten men - several of them important members of Australia's-then wartime Cabinet, and several others, members of the military. There were some unusual and unresolved aspects to the crash investigation.
Then, in 1971, the body of young Canberra woman - Kerryn Rowlands, was found at the site - her cause of death unable to be determined however it has been often speculated that she was possibly Ivan Milat's (Australia's most notorious serial killer) first victim. The Police investigation into Kerryn's death has not been closed, and the Australian Federal Police in 2020, again reviewed the location where she was found.
There have also been several fatal motor vehicle accidents, including an alleged hit and run near this location.
There's been a large number of reported, alleged unusual occurrences at and around the site over the years.
Join us for an interesting and fun evening, where we learn about the history of the site, explore the crash site and memorial location including using spirit hunting devices (for those interested).
Please note: This is a respectful visit to the location - relatives of those who perished on location, remain in Canberra, and we will initially pay our respects to those people before we learn about the site history. Following that, we'll take time to explore the location using spirit- sensing devices.
We will have EMF (Electromagnetic Frequency) Spirit Meters, Mel Meters that monitor temperature and EMF, movement and sound devices, and will show and explain to participants, how those devices work.
Participants will then have 20-30 minutes of exploratory time with the devices, in this location.
We acknowledge that belief (or not) in the supernatural, exists on a very wide spectrum. We don't run this tour to confirm or deny anything - merely to let people have their own experience on site, and to explore and learn how to use devices. We aren't here to judge anyone's belief (regardless of what that is) and we ask that all participants come along with an open mind that is also respectful of others' beliefs also, regardless of what those beliefs are.
What to expect:
From the carpark, it's an easy 1.5 km walk into the site. Initially on wide, flat fire trail, we branch off onto single track for around 50 metres, and then back onto rough fire trail, again. There is a slight uphill section of around 20 metres, over 200 metres around the halfway point.
We'll pay our respects to those who perished, before learning about the history of the site. We will show you how to use the various spirit tools and devices and explain how they work. Participants will be able to explore the site using the spirit tools, or just enjoy the peacefulness of a pine forest on a nice evening.
We'll discuss the supposed various encounters, experiences and sightings from others (including from our own tour experiences, also) and will have a media folder for anyone that wants to read more about the site and/or encounters.
We don't seek to influence beliefs by pre-loading participants with story expectations, before the event.
We will send out a confirmation email the day before the event, about where to meet exactly, and what to bring. But participants should wear warm clothing in winter, walking shoes and bring a rain jacket and charged headlamp/torch.
About the activity Lead:
Kelli Jackson is best known for leading others in the outdoors. But she also has an interest and curiosity in unusual 'things', including that she is the first Westerner to have unicycled in North Korea, and is also the convener of The Society of Interesting Women .
Kelli has run multiple volunteer trips to this location over the last five years, and decided to share these in a more formal way, including undertaking more formal site investigations.
She acknowledges she isn't 'Tim the Yowie Man' of course! But you'll get an equally interesting, if not different perspective on this tour!
